The Dessert Table
As if we hadn’t eaten enough,
desserts lurk at the other end of the buffet table, tempting us with
their rich textures and sweet smells. One thing Mature Friends never
skimp on is dessert. As you can see, we had quite a variety, from cakes
and pies to cookies and fresh fruit — well, actually, the fresh
fruit ended up on the appetizer table for some reason. Luckily, some of
those huge, beautiful strawberries still sat untouched, just waiting
for folks looking for a healthy alternative to the sweets.
Our Just Desserts
True to past experience, most of the desserts had been gobbled up
before we began the afternoon’s activities. After gorging on the sweet
stuff, it was time to clean up and get to playing croquet, our only
activity this year. For some reason, nobody wanted to play a cut-throat
game of Pinochle or Bridge.
In the past when we'd meet in Woodland Park, our walkers would head
down to Green Lake in a futile attempt to burn off the calories they'd
packed in. Now at the Wallingford Center, we had two choices: Help
clean up or play croquet. In fact, our
Wednesday Green Lake walk leader cut out right after dessert. But
shhhh! Don't tell him I said so.
