snow tumbled down all day and all night, our resourceful,
determined group of ten made our own unique ways to SeaTac Airport
to catch an EVA Air 747 to Hong Kong. After boarding the plane, we
sat and waited 45 minutes for the plane to be de-iced. Then we
were ready to fly, right? Wrong! Next, the taxiway had to be
plowed before our plane could go anywhere, let along take off.
Finally, 90 minutes late, we took off. My watched showed 2:30 AM,
Thursday morning, January 19. We found out later that Sea-Tac had
closed the next day.
Once in the air, we settled in for a very long flight to Taipei,
where we were scheduled to connect with another flight to Hong
Kong. Luckily, the connecting flight was also on EVA Air, and they
held the plane for us.
After a race from one end of the Taipei airport to the other end,
we caught our connecting flight to Hong Kong, our first stop in
Asia. Some of us worried about our luggage making the connection,
but no need to have worried. Everything arrived at the same time —
luggage, steamer trunks, and us!
But let's get started with our first stop — Hong Kong! Just click
